Career Development
At Kaiser Associates, we focus on developing consultants around four key skill areas: consulting basics, management (projects & People), business development, and self-development. While training is one way we support development, Kaiser operates a robust mentoring program to provide additional support to staff. Each new hire is assigned a peer mentor for their first two months at the firm to assist in on-boarding and acclimating the consultant to Kaiser and their position. Following this on-boarding period, each consultant is assigned a mentor. The mentoring program is designed to provide each employee with additional perspective and another means of communication within the firm. The program benefits mentor and protégé, alike, as well as the firm as a whole.
To ensure consultants are progressing on all competencies in our four key skill areas, Kaiser Associates operates a robust performance evaluation process. Each consultant receives a project review at the conclusion of each engagement and we evaluate overall performance every six months. Mentors and protégés jointly create development plans at the start of the six month period to establish development goals that are monitored throughout the period. Consultants are eligible for a bonus payout each six months based on their individual and firm performance over the period. As a reward for those attaining the highest performance over the period, they are welcomed into our Top Performer Program. This program entitles these consultants to additional development and learning opportunities over the next six month period. They have the opportunity to work on special firm projects, interacting directly with the firm's senior leadership and impacting the performance or future direction of the firm. Our robust review process forms the cornerstone of our meritocratic culture. Consultants are given regular feedback on their performance and bonus and promotions are awarded based on each individual's performance and their ability to master the competencies associated with their level.
